Other Race Funding Ideas
Independently Wealthy (or want to save the world one racer at a time?)
So, your bank accounts and investment portfolios are full, you love racing, and you're wondering just exactly where you can make that next great investment. How about investing in the lives of our youth racers out there who have huge dreams of making a career of racing, but are hindered by the enormous costs associated with racing. Sure, you can sponsor a local race team or invest in a pro team, but it's the kids racing now at the kart tracks and dirt ovals who will be our stars of tomorrow if given the chance.
If the charity tax write off is important to you, contribute to a 501C organization like Young Racers of America (YRA). Their mission is to provide assistance to kids of need in the racing industry. YRA helps with critical items like safety equipment, out-of-town race transportation, race feel, safety classes and race instruction.
In addition, they have an enrichment program for the kids involving community service, drug and alcohol education and awareness and how to represent corporate sponsors. YRA provides a great missing link in the development of young drivers in the racing industry. Please visit the YRA website for more info.
If you want to be more intimately involved with maybe just one particular driver and his/her family, simply head out to the local kart or track on race or practice days and do a little scouting (assuming you don't know someone already). It won't be hard at all to find a promising young driver who could use a hand with race funds. You can help out with race entry fees, spare parts, tires, safety equipment, fuel, travel expenses, etc... whatever they might need so they can focus on racing and not have to worry about breaking the family budget.
I truly believe the universal law of giving and receiving even applies to racing, so I know you will be truly blessed for your bountiful generosity in support of a young race driver out there. Take it from someone like Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, who gave away $7 billion from 2001 to 2005 - yes, that's a B for Billions. That averages to over $400 million per day for the half decade period. Why you might be able to even fund a Formula 1 team on that kind of money!
Anyway, thanks in advance for your support of the sport we all love (or you wouldn't be on this web site I'm sure) and helping raise young drivers to the upper echelons of racing based on their talents and not just their last name.
